Hi Suncuss/BirdNET-PiPy,
I recently installed BridNet-Go on my NAS and am using an RTSP connection,
I like to test out as many options as possible and like Birdnet-PiPy more.
At the moment I cannot do a fair comparison between BirdNET-PiPy and
BirdNET-GO, the rtsp device's microphone does not come close to the USB
microphone that I am using with BirdNET-PiPy. GO with RTSP has captured
110 recordings today, 11 species while PiPy has captured 1,758 and 32
species. I was trying to connect GO to the icecast that is used for PiPy
but have not been able to get it to work.
Regarding Perch V2 and Birdnet V3, I think I read that Perch also has
Birdnet V3 incorporated in it.
One suggestion that GO has is the latest observation, this is what GO's
looks like - using the spectrogram for the background.

I think it would be nice to have the spectrogram for the latest observation
in the play box instead of it showing like this.

If there is anything else you would like to see in GO, please let me know.
Best Regards,
Geo

but then birdnet v3 came out so i decieded to go with that one since i
think it might get better long term support.
I haven't done a perch v2 test to see how does it compare to the
birdnet-v3 model.
birdnet-go has it supported now, i am curious to see how it performs in
real world.

I have been running the Perch 2.0 model using a PR of BirdNET-Pi since November 2025 and the detections work well. Being able to seamlessly switch between the birdnet-v3 model and the Perch 2.0 model as well as the previous models would be very nice. |

Do the previous remarks imply that the Birdnet v3 model is supported? |

Yes i added BirdNET-v3 model support a while back ago. but no perch v2 yet. I want to evaluate a bit more internally to see how does perch v2 actually performs. In general i see the BirdNET repo much more active and thinking we might get better support and continous development by sticking with BirdNET models |

Hi, Looks like Perch, V2 is gaining popularity, are there any plans to add this as an option as a detection model?
