Suppose I have a movie that is 2 hours long, and I have an SRT subtitle file. For the first hour, the subtitles are in sync. Then there is a commercial at the 1 hour mark. I delete the commercial from the video file with Lossless Cut, but since it can only cut at "key" frames, the cut is not perfect and may introduce an extra 1 second into the stream at the 1 hour mark. So now, the subtitles are out of sync by 1 second from the 1 hour mark to the end of the movie.
I don't see an easy way to fix this sync issue within Subtitle Edit. What I ended up doing was editing the SRT file with a text editor and chopping the SRT file into 2 files, breaking it at the point where the extra second was added. Then I adjusted the entire 2nd segment timing/sync by 1 second using Subtitle Edit. Then I concatenated the 2 SRT files back together. It worked, but it was a hassle.
Is there a feature already within Subtitle Edit that allows me to do this operation? If so could you point me to it? If not, it might be a good feature to add to the Synchronization menu.
Thank you!
