Automatic synchronization of subtitles to speech.

I may be asking a lot, but I would still ask if there is a way to at least minimally synchronize downloaded subtitles (e.g. from YouTube) and video so that it doesn't have to be done completely manually. I mean automatic spacing where is not speech, not subtitle appear. Is there any way to do that? At least roughly, manual work is always necessary. Most of the time those downloaded subtitles are stretched out, with no connection to the audio track, and editing hundreds of lines is a chore.

I appreciate the advanced features of the SE, which is already great as it is. This query came to me after finding a few features that are unique. E.g. waveform /spectrogram/visual approach or measurement converter.
