Contributor Code of Conduct

What this project is about

VolScope is research software — it computes and visualises volatility, and that is the whole remit. Contributions that add analytics, fix bugs, or improve documentation are welcome. Threads asking the maintainers "what should I do here", "should I buy DAX puts", or for any trade recommendation belong in your broker's chat, not in this project's issue tracker — VolScope gives you the numbers, never the advice.

Our pledge

We pledge to make participation in the VolScope project a welcoming, harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity.

Our standards

Examples of behaviour that contributes to a positive environment:

  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints
  • Giving and gracefully accepting constructive criticism
  • Focusing on what is best for the community and the project
  • Showing empathy toward other contributors

Examples of unacceptable behaviour:

  • The use of sexualised language or imagery
  • Trolling, insulting comments, or personal / political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others' private information without explicit permission
  • Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate

Enforcement

Project maintainers are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behaviour and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behaviour.

Maintainers have the right to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned with this Code of Conduct.

Reporting

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behaviour may be reported privately to the maintainer by opening a GitHub issue with the code-of-conduct label for non-sensitive matters. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly, and the reporter's identity will be kept confidential.
