MacBook MacOS 11.7.10 can't type text in answer field in SEB 3.3.3 151C0 #440
Comments
I don't have time to look into this right now. But I would strongly recommend to update to a newer macOS version. Big Sur macOS 11 has many bad bugs and is no longer updated by Apple. |
Ok & many thanks for the fast advice. |
What would be the oldest MacOS version that you recommend? |
Best is always to stick to Apple's recommendation to use one of the three latest macOS versions, because those are still getting security updates. So that would be currently macOS 12, 13 and 14. Also macOS 12 was much more stable than 11, so I would also recommend that as a minimum. Generally we support also much older versions, but that's more for technical reasons and to not discriminate students which can't afford newer Macs. Best and safest is definitely to require newer versions. You can also require a minimum version in your SEB settings, see the Security pane in SEB Settings. |
I upgraded to MacOS Sonoma 14.7 and all is well now. |
@danschlet upgraded my MacBook to 12.7.6 (last available version for my MacBook) but still can't get the touchpad to be able to press anything anymore (have to use TAB to switch between fields). I have used this MacBook during SEB tests for slightly over a year now and everything worked just fine until the new SEB versions. The cursor doesn't even change to "clickable" icon as if there's some invisible overlay on top of the embedded browser. |
@moliata unfortunately there is no way to analyze your issue if you don't provide more information. Create a new issue and fill in all the information the template asks for. At least we need relevant SEB log files and a video of the behavior, possibly such issues can only be reproduced if we get a test login to your assessment system. Another missing information: Are you also using Ans or another assessment system? |

MacBook MacOS 11.7.10 can't type text in answer field in SEB 3.3.3 151C0
Dear reader,
on this MacBookAir, the exam starts in SEB but the user can not activate the answer field of an open question.
As a result, no text can be typed into the answer field.
Also, the user can navigate to the next question, but can not backtrack.
That next question is a single-punch multiple choice question, but in SEB the user can click and activate multiple radio buttons instead of just one.
With SEB on Windows 10 on the same exam, we have no such issues.
On the MacBook, we tried both starting the exam directly from inside the exam platform
and by double-clicking the downloaded .seb file from Finder,
both give similar issues.
We use Ans.app as our exam platform.
Kind thanks for your help,
good greetings,
Arie
