Not sure if working, no bison, no scrolls after multiple killing of sheep, squid and chickens

Forge 2838
Java 8 311
Mod version: avatarmod-1.5.17-alpha.jar

First mod I'm attempting and installation went smooth, no issues.
When the game loads it says mods available 6 and mods installed 6, when I view mods, Avatar is there.

I created a world (single player) when the game loads, I cannot see anything that tells me I'm in the avatar mod, when i try /bending choose {name} airbending it says "you dont have permission to run that command" It does say I need to learn bending
I don't see any air bison.
I killed 8 sheep and no scrolls, tried with chickens and squid, nothing.

Please can someone help me get this working.
