Description
dumbrak http://urn.fi/urn:nbn:fi:au:seko:00307 ("dambura", "dömbra (dumbrak)", "dutar") -- Afghan, Tajik and Uzbek two-sringed fretless lute instrument.
Different from dombra (seko:00287 -- see also: Dombra (WIkipedia)
- The Kazakh dombyra has frets and is played by strumming with the hand or plucking each string individually
- The Turkestani and Badakhshani damburas are fretless Dombra with a body and neck carved from a single block of wood, usually mulberry or apricot.
However, both are mapped (and merged) to the same concept in WIkpedia, LCSH Dömbra (Two-stringed lute)
(Dombira, Dömbra, Dumbrak) and LCMPT dömbra (dombira, dumbrak)
With just the instrument name and no other meatadata it is difficult to confirm to which instrument variant these labels go to:
- dombra
- dombyra
- tambura
- dambura
- dombura
- dumbyra
- dombira
This is NOT
- dutar
- komyz
