JEDI-based ensemble recentering and analysis calculation.
What are the requirements for the new functionality?
This will require a new GW job, active when using JEDI-based DA, which will perform the ensemble recentering and analysis calculation using a single JEDI-based application. This will replace the GSI chgres, ecmn, and analcalc jobs, still used with JEDI-based DA, with a single JEDI job.
Acceptance Criteria
The new job which produces an identical analysis and recentered increment as the previous jobs.
Suggest a solution (optional)
Work on this feature is currently underway. Under the proposed approach, the new job will compute both the variational analysis and a "correction increment", which when added to the regular DA increment results in the recentered increment. These two increments will be combined in the deterministic forecast job. The chgres job can be eliminated, because the changing of the deterministic forecast resolution can be be done internally in the JEDI-based recentering/analysis calculation utility.
