User Story

Essential components

  • Title describes the story
  • Stakeholder type is identified
  • Outcome is described
  • Rationale is explicit
  • Acceptance criteria are verifiable and from the perspective of the stakeholder

Story

As a {student, educator}
I want the initial window to have explicit affordances for all and only actions that are appropriate to the newly launched application
so that the product use is easier to comprehend and effect.

Acceptance Criteria

  • The initial window provides explicit (and "obvious") affordances for the use of the product.

TODO: Needs more effective acceptance criteria.

I am going to work on this issue after studying AWT, Swing, and Java more this weekend.

Sounds good.

The first step in addressing this issue appears to be that of suggesting changes to the user story's Acceptance Criteria (as indicated by the TODO: label and missing check-mark in the Essential Components).

I have first restated the "Acceptance Criteria" as below:

  • It's done when the initial window's menu displays only immediately usable tasks.

I believe this is enough for this particular issue.

  • It's done when the initial window's menu displays only immediately usable tasks.

Please use either rule or scenario format (or both) for Acceptance Criteria.
The term "task" is unclear in this context.

Note that the originally-specified Acceptance Criteria shortcoming was lack of an operative means by which achievement of the objective is assessed and determined. The objective and acceptance criterion also specified "affordances", which is much less restrictive than "window menu".
