Problem Description

I've been trying to get it to work in virtual machine manager on Ubuntu, and first tried with just mounting the opencore iso as a CD, which would only mount read-only and sends everything straight into panic after launching the open core launcher. I then converted the iso to a .efi as you can see in my VM config - which takes me further; i can now boot into opencore and starte the MacOs installer, and it takes me to an apple screen with a progress bar. The progress bare then loads 1/5 of the way and the VM reboots. Every time. I've been trying all sorts of configs, but nothing seems to have an impact.

Thanks! So i tried to follow your guide, with one exception; for some reason i am unable to select Skylake-Client-v4 from the drop down menu. Which i why i started to mess around with the qemu args. If i modify xml to selekt at least Skylake-Client, i can start opencore - but it just goes straight into some sort of panic..

If i rather use the efi i made out of your ISO, i get to the Apple logo but there is no progress bar or anything.

Can you stay at that "some sort of panic" a little longer, like 45 seconds?

But your xml does not seem to work for me. I updated to Ubuntu 25.10, which at least allows me to pass skylake-client-v4 as cpu without additional qemu args. I also needed to add flags to disable pcid, spec-ctrl, hle & rtm to make it start. But the behaviour is exactly the same.. I get this few lines of panic (exactly the same one i pasted above, with no additional details no matter how long i wait). I can see on /dev/pty/1 that i get an error (that disappears if i rather use qemu args for the CPU);

Use Rufus to write this ISO to a USB drive, boot from it, run some mount command to mount your internal SSD somewhere, then go to Datacenter → Storage → Add → Directory, point it to the mount point you just created, and try creating a macOS VM to see whether your PC can actually boot macOS using OpenCore-ISO.

As long as you use the Q35 machine type, +invtsc is not needed.

Yes, but i think this is the reason. It fails under multicore use because of this. Tried specifying only single core - and voila, all else equal i am able to boot into macos recovery!

With this, i managed to run the installer - but now it does get stuck on select your country or region. After selecting country, it just spins and spins and does not proceed (although it's not like the VM is frozen)

Try this Proxmox VE Docker container. Replace ./ISOs with the path to your ISO folder:
