Gif animation only works with `--resize=crop`

It says in the readme to install mpvpaper for it, but when i try to set a gif it just shows as a static image?

What image are you using? And how are you trying to set it? It should animate gifs automatically.

Also having issue with playing gif. Not sure why yet.

command swww img -t none --resize fit -o DP-1,DP-2 ~/.local/share/wallpapers/forrest3840x2160.gif

version: swww 0.11.0 (latest is 0.11.2 i believe)

the gif loads, but it is just a static image immediately.

as a side note:

When looking at cli help, for query there may be an error:

Usage: swww query [OPTIONS]

Options:
  -a, --all
          Kill all swww-daemon instances (all namespaces)

Removing the resize seems to fix it. Note it also failed with --no-resize
