Assess basic cloud properties in observations (MARCUS) vs CAM

General idea is to get started looking at ship-borne observations and come up with some creative ideas for how these might be applied to model output.

Some possible tasks include:

• Get data from Christina
• Get Box account set up
• Get data from Jay
• Papers to read: See comment below
• Plot data along ship tracks
• Generate CAM output along the same ship tracks
• Ensembles of runs in the area to create an "envelope" of possible cloud statistics?
  Then compare ship obs to these envelopes to see if we are even close in cloud statistics.
• Composite the observations as cloud properties per some large scale state?
  So, possibly something like cloud base or boundary layer height vs SST, or CCN vs surface wind speed?
  Jay felt compositing was a bad idea, but that was likely for composite frontal systems in the observations and not more general environmental states.

Data from Jay is now in my Box folder and moved to Derecho/Casper for analysis.

• Lots of .gif, .png files, probably easier to look through these on my laptop
• Haven't found a "Readme" or explainer yet.
• Data files are type cdf not nc, but ncdump did work.

  Should look for a description paper for these data as well.
