Is it possible to build with windows sdk as a dependency?

I'm building SimpleBLE targeting windows which depends on Windows SDK. How do I add that as a dependency?

If this is not possible, can I use pre-built binaries that were built on windows?

I'm not sure what you mean by "Windows SDK". We support the MinGW toolchain for compiling Windows binaries

Our MinGW-based toolchain also provides "platform headers, libraries, WinRT metadata, and build tools required to develop Windows applications".

I'm getting lots of errors like:

fatal error:  winrt/Windows.Devices.Bluetooth.Advertisement.h: No such file or directory

Is there a linking step I need to add in the build_tarballs.jl?

We use a case-sensitive file system and MinGW consistently uses lowercase names everywhere (for both headers and libraries): https://github.com/mingw-w64/mingw-w64/blob/59cd5ce805b12cdefced08ce567d3518c6053b40/mingw-w64-headers/include/windows.devices.bluetooth.advertisement.h. You need to patch the source code you're trying to compile (and ideally submit the patch upstream) to fix that.

hmm, I changed all the instances of those headers but it's still complaining

fatal error: windows.devices.bluetooth.advertisement.h: No such file or directory

That might be because we have an older MinGW than the one which introduced that header file.

And I've got the package working well using precompiled dlls so the only thing left is to get it compiling to windows. I've tried applying patches to fix the case of the file names inside the build environment. Same file not found error.

I really just don't have enough experience with compilers so more help would be greatly appreciated.
I could maybe ask the package author for help?

After a little more research I've found that, indeed, the header files SimpleBLE needs are only in MinGW version 14 and the current version of MinGW is version 11.

However, the build_tarballs.jl script for MinGW on Yggdrasil is only for version 5 so I don't have an up to date version to work off of. I suspect that this is because making MinGW build in this environment is not normal.

It was pointed out to me that I can just place prebuilt binaries into the ${prefix}/bin directory so I give up on building on windows here's the jll package SimpleBLE_jll
