It's unclear what the "U" in "URAID" in Maiko was intended to mean - could be "Unix" though. RAID was the debugger (a reference to the brand-name fly spray). TeleRAID was the remote debugger - when a D-machine went to the debugger it could listen for debug packets on the ethernet and let you peek/poke memory so that you could either figure out what happened or attempt to recover some state. |

I think it was Unix. RAID was the original debugger on the Alto. Or was it Swat?

That name RAID probably follows from the debugger for the DEC-10/20, named DDT (Dynamic Debugging Technique); which, itself, was named as a pun on the insecticide of the same name. |
Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.
The manual of Medley for the Sun indicates two keychords for entering URAID:
Shift-Ctrl-DeleteShift-Ctrl-NextThe second one works on my Linux box as
Shift-LeftCtrl-RightCtrlbut not the first.The
Deletekey of the first keychord supposedly corresponds toDeleteof the numeric keypad but it does nothing on my box, and neither do the ordinaryDeleteandBackspace. Is the first keychord still mapped?By the way, what does URAID stand for?
