(newbie question?) Changing Background Color #3108

The Tailwind design is purposely clean and minimal based on user feedback. To change the Tailwind-styled background colour, Custom CSS can be used: https://docs.hugoblox.com/reference/extend/#customize-style-css |

Hi y'all,
I've been using the Academic theme since 2019, and I'm now trying to upgrade my whole setting to the current version of Hugo and Academic but am utterly stuck at the color customisation step.
At the time, my color scheme was customised using a
toml
file:This allowed me to easily tinker with all the colors that appear on screen, to fully decide what the light/dark mode are, and in particular to stop using a pure white background that hurts the eyes on light mode.
I've looked into the forum here, I've browsed https://docs.hugoblox.com/ and googled all I could, but the only reasonable option now seems to be the css color themes that barely affect the look of the generated website, that's ultimately still mostly black and white.
Am I missing something obvious?
