When a subclone passes through a sample where the subclone is present neither on input (left) nor output (right) side, it is shown as a dashed line. However, this is not the case when the subclone is present on the input (left) side but not on the output (right) side.

A simple horizontal line that spans the whole sample rectangle cannot be used in all such cases. A more sophisticated solution is needed. See the latter figure (EOC423):
