Not necessarilly part of the JOSS submission, but figured I'd make the suggestion while I'm here.
The verdata example repository is quite complete! Each of these examples though is renderd to html which is not human readable. Consider creating a quarto / bookdown book that is linked in the repositories URL. That would make it much easier to read and consume. I'm downloading HTML files and opening them locally which isn't desirable.
For each of the sub directories it would be nice if there was a README describing the contents of each Rmd
