Evaluate integration options for agency-delivered Figma components #2893

Description

@Spark450

Summary

Explore and recommend the best way to integrate the agency-delivered components into our design system, enabling designers to start using the new visuals with minimal friction once the DS evolution is ready to be released.

Background

The agency has delivered—and we have approved—the first two redesigned components. We now need to decide whether to:

  1. Reuse or lightly refactor the agency’s Figma components as-is.
  2. Translate the visual updates into our current library into our existing library.
  3. Publish a separate library that references the specifications in the agency’s updates.

This understanding will aid both our implementation efforts and how we handle future handoffs and reviews.

Objectives

  • Evaluate the technical and workflow implications of the three distribution options.
  • Recommend a single path forward, with clear next steps.
  • Identify any needed changes to our component review checklist and to the artifacts the agency hands over.

Acceptance criteria

  • ◻️ Recommendation, verbal or written.
  • ◻️ Proposed updates to (a) the formal review process and (b) potentially the mandatory criteria.
  • ◻️ Outcomes captured in this issue.
