How likely it is that one day OpenSpec be integrated with a BDD tool such as CucumberJs ?

We already have BDD like scenario in OpenSpec, why not combining both world and writing BDD specs instead ? This would add a terrific additional layer of validation, writing tests first.

OK, it's true not everyone uses OpenSpec for web development, but I think having the option to wire OpenSpec directly to a BDD framework, out of the box, would be sensational.

@B2F Haha I did consider it in the very early days of OpenSpec to just have it use the Cucumber language etc. The one issue I had is that full Gherkin syntax was very verbose, especially when adding it to markdown files. Specs would become too large and very hard to skim and read.

Whether this was the right decision I'm not too sure. I think the biggest problem we face at the moment isn't the file format but trying to figure out how to effectively communicate these with users in a way that isn't mentally exhausting but still provides enough context for agents.

But one of the good things with some of the upcoming changes is we're aiming to make OpenSpec a lot more hackable, so you could define basically your own template and instructions of the types of files you want OpenSpec to make. Interesting, this new "hackability" feature I imagine could pave the way for community made modules or extensions providing the feature I was asking about.

@B2F yes! we want to maintain a default for people that want an "out of box" experience but give users room to hack and play around with different workflows/templates etc. (and yes hopefully share them too eventually)
