Describe the Feature
Currently SACUs are built like any other unit, with the factional build effect and shader representing its progress. It could be a bit more immersive to have the upgrade effects and finished upgrade bones appear as the SACU preset is built. The effects would appear after the base cost of the SACU is fulfilled, and then the effects would progress from the cheapest to most expensive upgrade.
This approach has several downsides to weigh:
- It may seem like the SACU can be canceled mid-construction and moved out of the gate with so far completed upgrades.
- It is not possible to adjust the fraction complete for the build shader.
- The resource spending will not match the upgrade being built.
Perhaps an alternative solution where all enhancements are built and displayed together as the preset builds is more appropriate, although it does not fit the lore of quantum gateways (not that building SACU bodies in gates fits either).
