Description
Issue Description
Need to validate IW612 WiFi module reliability and stability across multiple boot cycles on the latest Sentai build to ensure consistent network connectivity for production deployments.
Background
- Hardware: imx8mm-jaguar-sentai with NXP IW612 WiFi module
- Component: NXP IW612 SDIO WiFi (nxpiw612-sdio machine feature)
- Concern: WiFi reliability across boot cycles for production stability
Test Requirements
Test Scope
- Boot Cycles: Minimum 50-100 boot cycles
- WiFi Operations: Connection establishment, data transfer, reconnection
- Network Scenarios: Different SSIDs, security types (WPA2/WPA3), signal strengths
- Power Scenarios: Cold boot, warm reboot, power cycle
Success Criteria
- Connection Success Rate: >95% successful WiFi connections on boot
- Stability: No kernel panics, driver crashes, or system hangs
- Performance: Consistent throughput and latency across boots
- Recovery: Automatic recovery from temporary connection failures
Test Environment
- Build: Latest Sentai factory image with current IW612 drivers
- Network: Controlled WiFi environment with known-good access points
- Monitoring: Serial console logging, network performance metrics
- Duration: Extended testing over multiple days
Implementation Plan
-
Setup Test Environment
- Configure automated boot/reboot cycle testing
- Set up network monitoring and logging
- Prepare test access points with different configurations
-
Execute Test Scenarios
- Cold boot reliability testing
- Warm reboot stability testing
- Network reconnection after temporary disconnection
- Performance consistency across boots
-
Data Collection
- Boot time to WiFi connection metrics
- Connection failure rates and error patterns
- Driver/firmware error logs
- Network performance benchmarks
-
Analysis and Reporting
- Identify any reliability issues or patterns
- Document performance baselines
