Current status (from developer response in #13516):

Non-Claude models can be used, as long as the provider supports the Anthropic interface. No plans to build in CCR, but the built-in gateway will be enhanced later to support more models.

OpenRouter does expose an Anthropic-compatible endpoint at https://openrouter.ai/api/v1, but Cherry Studio's Agent mode doesn't recognize it as such. This is a subset of the broader aggregator compatibility problem tracked in #13625.
