Question about gaming meta package. #289
Comments
Hello! Glad you enjoy CachyOS! We are always working to provide the best user experience for users.
Currently there is none, but there are plans to rework the gaming meta package to "debloat" it. As an alternative for now, you can remove meta package Hope this comment finds you well, good day. |
Has been split out here, but we need to coordinate this together with a cachyos-hello update. |
any progress on this? love that you provide a package, but it pulls in too much things at the moment. |
Cachyos-hello has received the update to use both gaming packages. |
I think we can close it as solved now |
Hello CachyOS team.
Sorry if I'm posting this on a wrong place and excuse my poor English, it's not my main language.
I'm a new Linux user, and I'm enjoying CachyOS very much. I tested other distros, but this one is the best by far in my opinion.
I only use the computer to play Steam games and browse the internet, nothing else really. There's no need for Lutris or Heroic launcher, for example. When I install the cachyos-gaming-meta, it comes with Lutris, Heroic, samba, dosbox, Steam runtime and Steam native, etc. I don't mind the manghud + goverlay.
So my question is: Is there any other package, by any chance, that installs only Steam and its necessary libs / pkgs and proton-cachyos? In other words, a package like cachyos-gaming-meta without Lutris, Heroic, etc. but only others necessary to optimize and make Steam works.
Maybe someone can help me filter and remove unnecessary items from https://github.com/CachyOS/CachyOS-PKGBUILDS/blob/master/cachyos-gaming-meta/PKGBUILD, so I can install them using pacman -S command, if possible, please?
Thanks in advance.
