I use it straight up as a multi fx processor. I need 6-8 presets for most of the bands that i play. I keep the most used 4 presets (Clean Amb, Clean, Distortion, Distorted Lead) in the first bank. The next bank has a clean compressed solo, an acoustic patch, a slightly overdriven tone with tremolo and a stuttery distortion (which i just use to fool around), as i can tempo sync the tremolo using my internal footswitches. i also have an overdrive, a plethora x1 and soul press 2 before the tonex, which just gives me lot of other permutations, so im very happy.. also a spark mini boost pedal after tonex one, which i feel is very essential, but also voids the stereo out capability of the tonex one, due to the boost pedal’s mono out capabilities. its a gamble.. |

I am using an M-Wave Chocolate to switch between 3-4 presets with varying drive levels of an amp. Waveshare zero board without a screen and I use the color coding of the lighted knobs of the ToneX one to get my bearings (green -> yellow -> orange -> red for the 4 presets).
I'm also trying to overcome the limitation imposed by IK that the effects are per-preset (and not global), and that every change to the preset gets automatically written to the preset. So I've expanded to this setup:
Bank 1, button A
Switch to Preset 1
Set Modulation to OFF
Bank 2, button A
Switch to Preset 1
Set modulation to ON
Adjust modulation parameters via CC if needed
etc.
This way in Bank 1 I have unmodulated settings and in Bank 2 I have a pre-defined modulation with the same amp captures.
Does anybody else have any tricks or experiences to share?
