yes i hate that we cant use a full version of bruce on launcher with the cyd even with an nm-rf-hat

id like to see a full bruce version for the nm-rf-hat cyd that is compatible with launcher and as a single install

ive considered abandining bruce because i cant use the features i paid for when i bought the hat that was designed for bruce :(

why take away the best features and force cyd users to have mo option but a super limited lite app when the nm-rf-hat is available ? and furthermore why would you remove bruceigotchi from a normal cyd when it runs just fine on it? if you guys could give us a full version for the cyd that would be super cool, kinda bummed i got this board and still cant access any of the good features because of the forced lite version...i love bruce and i just feel like bruce doesnt love me.....dont let me down....bruce

CYD has only 4mb of flash.

Launcher uses 1,4Mb of flash, and leaves 2,5Mb for application and 0,1Mb for Data partition (LittleFS which is vital for Bruce)

Bruce has almost 3,5Mb in its full version, so it doesn't fit in the 2,5Mb Launcher partition..

Sooooooo.. consider Bruce's Launcher version as a "Demo", with fewer features... For full functionalities youll need to flash Bruce alone.

To be able to run Bruce with Launcher, you probably would need to have a Launcher version without WebUI and Without OTA... I'll check here if it would be possible to install Bruce in this way.. but no guarantee

What if the features in Bruce that aren't supported by the hat and cyd were removed would that make room for ota? To stay on board? If not a version of launcher that only supported sd card installs would still be acceptable I think, it's just Hella difficult to have to flash the device anytime someone wants to switch from Bruce to another firmware and the features sacrificed in the light version currently take away some of the best potential of the cyd once it has the hat, I kind of like the idea of having the firmwares I want on the SD card also because if I don't have access to a 2.4ghz connection atm I can still switch to the tools I'm looking for in the moment if I already have them on the SD card, I don't have to rely on other external variables and there's certainly some benefit to that in some situations

I don't have this hat (as a Bruce main dev,it is a shame the manufacturer didn't provide us any sample), but removing only the things this hat doesn't support isn't enough... Because the only things it doesn't have is LoRa and FM

I am checking if it Launcher with only SD interface is enough for it, but things would need to be cut, no matter how hard I try.. Bruce is a BIIIIIG firmware...

As CYD is a cheap device, And any other firmware has support to CC1101, IR, nrf24 and PN532 (the hat you have)... It is easier for you to buy a second CYD to run Marauder, ghost and other firmwares in it

I was thinking something similar myself, do have a second cyd, that I could run other firmwares on or a second install of Bruce but the full featured of the hat would be sweet even if it didn't have lora fm gps and most of the wifi and ble features and I could run a second cyd with the full wifi and ble features. I am hoping to sell my motorcycle soon and I'd be happy to buy you a hat so you could tinker with it, I'll make a note of it so I don't forget, mostly I just miss bruceigotchi on the regular cyd lite versions but having the option to use the full features of the hat and still keep launcher would be sweet even if I had to use a second cyd for the wifi and ble. I don't wanna overwhelm ya with stuff to work on, I just think that a lot of people have probably grabbed the hat and would probably be kinda bummed that they can't use the features they bought it for and people are likely going to keep buying it so like there definitely is gonna be a desire from more folks than me to be able to use the full features of the hat even if they need a second cyd to supplement for wifi and ble features the hat will also open up more features on other firmwares that have been unavailable to cyd users too so wanting to be able to use it with the launcher is gonna be a common issue probably as time progresses, Idk, it does suck that hmthey didn't think to give you guys a few hats to work with considering it's advertised with Bruce like they made it FOR Bruce. I used it with a standalone install of Bruce earlier and I loved how many more options I had with the cyd but then I installed the launcher and now I don't even remember how I got the full Bruce on my cyd before the hat lol I do remember it was a weird process to find it last time. Currently I can switch between Bruce and hale hound with launcher no problem but only the lite Bruce obviously which doesn't have much of features supported by the hat unfortunately.

I just had a thought, I wonder if the hat could potentially be used to go on the crowpanel advance 2.8 inch meshtastic version and have more space available for more features and also provide Onboard lora on the panels side, also the advance display has swappable wireless modules like wifi halow and zigbee matter and threads and if I'm not mistaken I think it has dual ESP32 also the 7 inch v 1.3 advance crowpanel display is basically useless for meshtastic atm and if that could be ported and could make use of their lora module and the other wireless modules it Could make for some exciting new feature potential with Bruce and others... But I'm getting off topic anyway I appreciate you, can't wait to see what you figure out, I'll let you know when I can scoop that hat for ya
