Questions about tracking the history of building index

Hi there, I am using bowtie to do some short reads alignment.
But the index I am using cannot be traced back to the ref.fa which was used to build the index because it was build a long time ago.
Is there any tools belonging to bowtie could be used to help me to track the history?
