Collaborators not appearing in Collaborators List

On notes shared by another user with me, the Collaborators List on my end (iOS) does not list that user as a Collaborator, therefore appearing as what one would think to be a note shared with no one that came out of nowhere. Notwithstanding, the note does sync on both ends when either user edits it.

Steps to reproduce

1. Have someone share a note with you. In my case, it was someone using the Android app.
2. Search the note in your app and enter it.
3. Open the Collaborators List (ⓘ > Collaborate)

What I expected

The email address from the person that shared the note with me should be in that list.

What happened instead

The list of Collaborators is empty.

The behavior is consistent with at least the Mac and Web versions, which also have that Collaborator missing.

The issue was reported to support@simplenoteapp.com, and the answer was that Collaborators not appearing in the Collaborators List is an expected behavior, but I do not see how that could be so.

What's more, you not having the original creator in your Collaborator List can lead to actions that would cause note duplication and potential data loss.

Steps to reproduce (following from the issue's description)

4. Add the original author to your Collaborator List (which, on your end, is empty; you might do this because you may not remember or even know that the note came from him/her).

What I expected

Nothing, actually, since the original author already has a copy of this note synchronized with yours, even if your note's Collaborate details does not state so.

What happened instead

The original creator will see a new note on his Note List, identical to the one he originally shared with you. Only that this one has no Collaborator in his/her Collaborator List. Yet the new note syncs with yours (of which you only have one).

What's even worse, since your note is now synced, and therefore linked, to this new note in the original author's end, and therefore not any more with the original one, the original author now has two notes, both of which have no Collaborator on their Collaborator List (you were removed from the original note's Collaborator List when the link was broken), yet one receives changes from you while the other does not.

How is the original author to know which one of the similar but not yet the same is the one your are collaborating on?

I'm also experiencing problems with the collaborator feature.

I have existing notes that I know have been shared with me in the past. These are still in my notes list, but NO collaborators are listed / no tags show with collaborator email address, in either iOS, Mac, or web apps.

And a new note shared with me today by another user does NOT appear in my notes list at all. Basically collaborative notes seem entirely broken at the moment.

@roundhill @jleandroperez is this a known issue?
