What was the impetus behind this project

Kinda curious was work related or just something you wanted because other implementations were difficult to get to work?

I tried many of the existing dashboard solutions and all had some major pain point for me. Whether they were not polished enough, or didn't work well on mobile, or were hard to use/configure.

I looked at the code for homarr and was considering contributing to that project but it looked like it became more complicated than it needed to be and used more system resources and had more people involved.

So I just decided to make something for myself and make it exactly how I wanted. I enjoy building things and now I can continue to build on this to and keep improving it over time.

This originally started off as a very simple and very basic webpage of hardcoded app shortcuts for one specific media server setup. Now this is much more advanced allowing it to work for many different use cases.
