Use pointer cursor variant when hovering over a button (not spacing)

When I hover over a window inside the wlr/taskbar module I get the regular cursor, but when I hover between the buttons inside the taskbar I get the pointer. This is the opposite of what I want! Is there a way to make the cursor change only when hovering over a button, and not when hovering over the spacing?
