using sway/hyprland workspace rules for river tags?

i'm currently switching to riverwm from hyprland and i've encountered an issue.

on my waybar config for hyprland, i have this:

for waybar, i just changed "hyprland/workspaces" to "river/tags", but it wasn't working

however, after reading the the waybar-river-tags manpage, i see that there aren't really any customization options, just hiding unused tags and like around 6 options, unlike hyprland/workspaces or sway/workspaces

idk if this is a limitation with waybar and/or river, or there are ways to actually use workspace rules and stuff for waybar tags, or it hasn't been implemented yet.

and if anyone knows any alternative status bar that will have a fix for my current situation it'll be a huge help too.
