Black Space Beneath Shortcut Buttons

After updating to version 1.12.7 a blank space has appeared beneath the shortcut buttons. When tge keyboard is inactive it is a single row but when active it takes up the while screen space. This usually happens when i have language clients on but not here. I cleared all app data and its still there. I do not know if there is a new option that is causing this. I need help removing it. Am using a soft keyboard hence the issue.
